Wing Chun

Though famous for empty-hand combat, Wing Chun Kung Fu has two core weapons: the butterfly swords (Baat Jaam Do) and long pole (Luk Dim Boon Kwun). Developed in 18th-century southern China, these tools reflected Wing Chun’s philosophy—direct, efficient strikes. The short, wide blades allowed swift close-quarters slashing, while the pole extended reach without sacrificing speed. Unlike flashy weapons, they were designed purely for practical self-defense, often used by merchants against bandits.
